Aegis Reign is a mythic, political, tactile strategy world in which rival Houses move Champions and Cohorts across a contested Realm, build and trade under scarcity, make bargains that can be honored or broken, confront rising Chaos, and pursue one of three paths to the Crown: Create, Protect, or Conquer.

This volume is the player’s book. It teaches you how to field a House, how a turn feels in the hand, how combat is resolved, how to speak at the table, and how a secret Path becomes a Crown. It does not replace the Realm Master’s Guide. Setup, Chaos, Breaking Point, the Crown Round’s edge cases, and the full card register live there. The Realm Forge teaches you how to build the board itself.

Micro Reign is the only active tabletop product. It is the commercial prototype and the rules laboratory. Grand Reign—the larger kingdom-building campaign—is preserved and parked. Dragon Feather material is a legacy archive. Nothing from that archive becomes Aegis canon merely by appearing in a sidebar.

Tone pillars

  • Mythic politics: alliances matter, and betrayal leaves visible consequences.
  • Tactile command: movement, dice, cards, tokens, gestures, and commitments make the table feel alive.
  • Scarcity without fabrication: trade redistributes value but never creates resources.
  • Consequential magic: relics, Chaos, and accessories create wonder without obscuring rules.
  • Readable drama: players should understand what happened and why, even when surprised.

Status language

Throughout these books you will see LOCKED, PROVISIONAL LOCK, ROUGH DRAFT, OPEN, PARKED, SUPERSEDED, and LEGACY / REVIEW. Locked text is the baseline. Provisional text is used exactly as written in Prototype v0.1 and reviewed only after observed play. Open text is a required decision; nothing is invented to fill it. Parked text is preserved for later. Superseded text is provenance only.

The physical game remains primary. Digital systems and the Arcane Wand may heighten the table, but they never replace it.
